What skateboarding means to me; always being seen as a black skateboarder, being on road trips where someone might find my race to be an issue or cause for concern, fearing the police more than my white counterparts, not seeing many black pros or black local shop sponsored skaters.

On the other hand, what skateboarding means to me; always being amongst creative individuals, growing and learning from real experience or shared ones, being a part of a community that doesn’t care if you’re black, fat, disabled, bi, queer or trans, skating with people that have a vision for a future without hate and racism.
