I am a mom of two and skateboarding has been part of my life for 35 years. When I was 9, my sister and brother and I first tried it out on our suburban Baltimore sidewalk. I met my best childhood friends because we all skated. In high school I published a skate zine with my sister that helped me get into college. After that, I worked at a skate magazine, where I met my husband. Our closest friends came from the shared connection of skateboarding and it continues to keep us together. Now both our 11 year old daughter and 9 year old son skate. Our family vacations include road trips in our campervan to visit skateparks around the country.
